Why a christening registry?

Keepsakes worth holding onto

Engraved keepsakes, a christening outfit, a first piece of jewellery, the kind of gift that gets passed down. Add them from any store, not just one shop.

A head start on their future

Set up a savings or education fund and let guests contribute. The money comes straight to you, ready to put away for the years ahead.

Easy for godparents & grandparents

Share one link by message or email. Guests who aren't online shoppers can still give cash towards a gift, and you can thank everyone from one place.

Christening gift etiquette in Australia

A christening or baptism gift is meant to last. Traditional keepsakes like an engraved cup, a piece of silver, or a first children's book still lead the way, but a contribution to a savings or education fund is just as valued and increasingly common. Godparents and grandparents usually give the more significant gifts, often around A$100 to A$200. Close family and good friends tend to give around A$50 to A$100, and other guests keep theirs smaller and personal, more like A$30 to A$80. These are only a guide, and our christening gift amount guide sets it out in more detail by how close you are to the family.

If you set up a list for the baby shower earlier, the christening is the natural follow-up for the same circle of family and friends. Our baby registry guide covers how to add items from any store and take contributions towards the bigger things, and our how much to give hub has amount guides for every occasion.

Do I include the registry link on the christening invitation?
Keep it optional. Many families share the registry link separately by message or email for anyone who asks, though a discreet line on the invitation is fine too, so it never looks like a gift is expected to attend.
What do godparents usually give?
Godparents traditionally give the more significant keepsake or the largest contribution to a savings fund, often a piece meant to be kept for life. Other guests keep gifts smaller and more personal.
Does this work for a naming ceremony?
Yes. A naming-ceremony registry works exactly the same way: add keepsakes or a fund, share one link, and let guests choose how they give.
